beIN Sports set to launch a new XTRA channel pushing women’s sports.

Yesterday, BeIN Sports announced that they’d be launching a new channel which will be covering the majority of women’s sports after the boost in popularity in recent years.

BeIN sports Deputy Manager Antonio Briceno said: “we’ll also offer viewers access via major platforms and devices that emphasise the growing popularity of women’s sports, including Paris Saint-Germain home matches and the French Women National team.”

With the channel being launched later in the year, it should see more money going into women’s sports in the upcoming years not just from BeIN Sports but many other broadcasting companies paying for the rights to show events in different sports.

Not only that but viewing figures of women’s sports should keep on rising, especially with the new channel being free for viewers across the country to watch.

So far the only women’s sport coverage to be announced for the channel is women’s football but it’s looking likely that there will be women’s rugby and tennis as well as other sports like netball.

This could end up being a big step in women’s finance. If BeIN Sports get a significant amount of viewers watching women’s sport, then other broadcasting companies will also want to follow in the same way and buy the rights to the sports that are gripping the nation.

Eventually, it could lead to a lot more money going into women’s sports from broadcasting companies, reaching new highs and possibly begin to see some women’s sports have the same amount of money in their game as the men do.

If this was the case then it may make it a clearer path for upcoming future prospects in sport with the lack of finance not being a factor to put off the future generation from trying to achieve their potential in the sport they play.
